About Us

Our Purpose and Vision

As the recognised national governing body for swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo in England, Swim England helps people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports.

Our Vision is to champion a healthy and successful nation through swimming and aquatic activity. The ability to swim is a life-skill that is essential to keep us safe in, on and around water. It is one of the nation’s most popular recreational activities enjoyed by millions of people in England.

Swim England, through aquatics, is uniquely placed to tackle inequalities and support health and wellbeing given the activities’ accessibility to people of all ages and abilities. On top of this, aquatics is made up of four amazing Olympic and Paralympic sports with our network of clubs and talent pathways supporting people to realise their full potential in the water.

In March of this year, we published in full the findings of an independent listening research report commissioned as part of our pledge to create a better future for everyone involved in aquatic sports. We are committed to only recruiting individuals who are as passionate as we are about being on this journey.

About The Role

Full time – 35 hours per week
Location – Sport Park, Loughborough University
Hours of work – Monday to Friday - Office based with home working (minimum of 3 days per week in the office)

Swim England are going through a period of change, and we are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join us on our journey.

Would you like the opportunity to make an impact supporting our People?

We have recently concluded our 2024 Team Conference.  This ‘in person’ event invited all our employees and regional teams to be involved in the process of establishing anew mission, vision and values under the direction of our CEO, Andy Salmon.

We will now need to feed these into all areas of the business including recruitment, development, rewards and recognition.  The role of HR Business Partner will be key in ensuring our employees and line managers are supported on this journey.  The successful candidate will need to be a steadying hand as we move forward.

The role: Aligned with our directorates, you will be part of a team providing advice, support and guidance to line managers across the business and through the entire employee lifecycle.  This includes recruitment and on-boarding to development, recognition, reward, employee relations and separation.

Reporting to the Head of People, this is a real hands role.  You will work closely with line managers and their teams as well as the People Development team.

If this sounds like the right role for you, please apply, paying specific attention to the criteria detailed in the job description within your cover letter (within the application form).

Please note that we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

About You

About you: To be successful you will need to be experienced in all areas of the employee lifecycle. You will be required to prioritise your workload in response to business needs, be solution focused and act with integrity.

Working closely with the People Development Coordinators, and across multiple teams and specialisms we will need you to be approachable and able to work at all levels of the organisation.

You do not need to be a swimmer or have an aquatics background to work with us but an appreciation and love for sport is helpful.

Swim England are a supportive, fun team who are ambitious and always welcome fresh new ideas.

We’re looking for an experienced and credible Human Resources professional, who can meet the following essential criteria:

·       Over 2years’ previous experience of working at HR Adviser/Officer/Business Partner level across the employment lifecycle.

·       CIPD member and qualified at Level 5 or above or equivalent experience

·       Good understanding of employment law and its application of employment policy

·       Ability to build trusting working relationships based on integrity

·       Ability to work across a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously and use own initiative and go the extra mile.

It would also be advantageous if you have experience of safer recruitment processes and experience of working within an HR role in a sport setting but this is not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of our people.

The People Development Team look after Swim England’s workforce of 250 + paid employees and a contingent workforce of around 400,including casual workers and contractors, across a range of functions for the business supporting the Swim England group, inclusive of the Swim England charity and subsidiary businesses Swim England Trading and the Institute of Swimming.
