Swim England, through aquatics, is uniquely placed to tackle inequalities and support health and wellbeing given the activities’ accessibility to people of all ages and abilities. On top of this, aquatics is made up of four amazing Olympic and Paralympic sports with our network of clubs and talent pathways supporting people to realise their full potential in the water.

About The Role

Swim England has an exciting opportunity for a Head Coach to lead the coaching team in supporting the England Swimming Team through to the 2026 Commonwealth Games!

This opportunity is being offered on a voluntary basis with expenses paid.

BACKGROUND:

Following the outstanding success of Team England’s Swimming and Para Swimming squads at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Swim England is determined to build on this momentum for the 2026 Games in Glasgow, Scotland. With a strong foundation of developing talent, expert coaching, and strategic planning, our goal is to deliver an exceptional performance. The 2026 Commonwealth Games present a unique opportunity to showcase our athletes, inspire future generations, and make history in the pool.

Supporting the pathway to LA 2028 & Brisbane 2032
Enhancing the strength & depth of the sport
Investing in people - athletes, coaches, practitioners and team staff

Increasing engagement in aquatics across the Country

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

Lead the coaching and performance strategy for Team England's swimmers at the 2026 Commonwealth Games
Be part of the Swim England Commonwealth Games Leadership Team, Coaching Consultation and Selection Consultation Groups
Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, sports scientists, physiotherapists and other support staff to ensure optimal preparation
Provide Leadership ad support to coaching staff, ensuring alignment with performance goals
Foster a high performance culture, emphasising excellence, discipline andteamwork
Represent Team England at official meetings, media engagements and public events.
Ensure adherence to Swim England's safeguarding policies and high perfrmance standards

This role is critical to the overall success of the Swimming and Para Swimming team.

About You

In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the process you must demonstrate within your application and Video submission how you meet the essential criteria listed below:

Qualifications	UK Level 3 Qualification or equivalent Swim England Safeguarding Certification Enhanced DBS UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) Certification. - Coach Clean
Experience	Extensive experience on-deck swimming coaching developing athletes towards Olympic/Paralympic and/or Commonwealth Games success Experience of effectively leading a team to maximise individual athlete performance potential aspiring towards Olympic/Paralympic and/or Commonwealth Games success
Leadership Skills	Ability to set strategic direction Uses communication skills to ensure messages are understood by different audiences/people profiles. Works collaboratively, inclusively and treats team/staff members equitably to build effective team environments.
Behaviours	Demonstrates strong resilience and ability to handle emotions under pressure. Acts as a positive influence, promotes high standards and leads by example. As a member of a national team, fully adhere to the team ethos and all behaviours acting as a strong role model for other coaches.
