As the recognised national governing body for swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo in England, Swim England helps people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports.

Swim England, through aquatics, is uniquely placed to tackle inequalities and support health and wellbeing given the activities’ accessibility to people of all ages and abilities. On top of this, aquatics is made up of four amazing Olympic and Paralympic sports with our network of clubs and talent pathways supporting people to realise their full potential in the water.

About The Role

We are seeking a Safeguarding Officer to join our team on a permanent full time basis. The role is 35 hours per week and will be based at our SportPark Office in Loughborough, with flexiblity for occasional home working.

As part of a busy team, you will provide advice and guidance to Swim England and its subsidary businesses on a wide range of child and adult safeguarding / welfare and protection issues. Your role will be to work proactively to provide support to members and clubs in relation to safeguarding matters, promoting best practice

Your responsiblilities will include attending safeguarding meetings and working groups as well as working directly with individuals to help communicate safeguarding practices, procedures and provide training to upskill in this area. You will work closely with clubs to provide support, advice and information to members on Swim England child safeguarding procedures and legislation. You will assist with providing training to Swim England teams, clubs and regions.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a commitment to following a best practice approach and who enjoys working as part of a team. We want you to be passionate about our role as Swim England in getting the nation healthy through aquatic sports, supporting the leisure sector and helping children be safe in and around water.

About You

You don’t need to be able to swim to work with us, but a passion for the role that sport and physical activity can play in society would be advantageous!

In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the process you must demonstrate within your application how you meet the following essential criteria:

Previous experience of working in a similar role, within a safeguarding fnction
Previous experience of responding appropriately to child safeguarding complaints and / or disclosures, considering the circumstances, audience and situation

Desirable

Experience of working at a similar level in Organisations such as sports NGBs, local authority or charity organisations
An expert and in depth understanding of child safeguarding legislation and practices.
