About The Role

Are you a strategic marketing leader who thrives in a data-led environment, loves building great customer experiences, and wants to make a lasting difference in sport?

Swim England is looking for a Marketing Manager (Membership) to lead proactive acquisition and engagement campaigns across our core membership audiences.

This role sits at the heart of our mission to grow and retain membership by delivering data-driven marketing activity that improves customer journeys and deepens member engagement. You will be a key player in delivering our One Swim England strategy and membership growth ambitions.

You’ll lead a small, skilled team and work cross-functionally across Safeguarding, Development, and Insight to ensure campaigns meet strategic outcomes and reflect the voices of our community.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and lead Swim England’s membership marketing strategy, aligning with the wider organisational and membership strategies.

  • Design and deliver end-to-end, multi-channel campaigns — including social, paid media, email, and content marketing — from planning and budget management to evaluation and optimisation.

  • Use insight and data to shape targeted customer journeys, lifecycle communications, and audience segmentation.

  • Manage and inspire a team of marketing and social media professionals.

  • Champion data quality and good data practices across the organisation.

  • Be a brand advocate and ensure all communications align with Swim England’s brand guidelines.

  • Collaborate closely with teams across Membership, Safeguarding, and Development to meet key business objectives.

  • Lead performance tracking of all campaigns and membership customer journeys, using insights to drive continuous improvement.

  • Deputise for the Head of Membership Marketing and Engagement when required.

About You

You don’t need to be able to swim to join Swim England, but a passion for the impact sport and physical activity can have on people’s lives is essential!

In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the process you must demonstrate within your application and covering letter your experience of the key areas of responsibility as well as how you meet the essential criteria listed below:

Essential

  • Experience working in a marketing and data-led role.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver multiple campaigns.

  • Confident across the full marketing mix, from email to social media to content.

  • Experience of managing customer databases and creating targeted, automated customer lifecycle campaigns.

  • Comfortable using data and insights to guide marketing decisions.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets and external media or campaign agencies.

  • Excellent copywriting skills with an eye for audience-focused messaging.

  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection legislation.

  • A proactive, positive, and collaborative mindset with a drive to improve workflows and outcomes.

Desirable

  • A passion for sport and an understanding of the swimming or leisure sector.

  • Ability to extract deeper insights from data to enhance customer experience or drive revenue growth.
