About The Role

We are seeking an experienced technical water polo lead to join our team on a permanent full time basis. Where possible flexible working or job share requests will be considered.

This is a key leadership role in pursuit of the British Swimming and Swim England Water Polo Performance Mission for the 2024 cycle and beyond.

In order to ensure Great Britain & England are world leading at developing athletes in Water Polo, this role will provide leadership and support to the sport’s coaching team, talent officer for England and provide wider guidance and support to the home nations.

Through leadership of the High Performance Programme (HPP), England Talent Pathway (ETP), International Competition Programme and the Water Polo Diploma In Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme, the role will be responsible for ensuring national programme activities and philosophies are appropriately aligned with these training environments.

Developing our coaches is also critical to the  Performance strategy, and as such the role will be responsible for ensuring our coaching staff are supported (and challenged) in their own personal development.

The role will be responsible for ensuring HPP athletes engage in the Individual Athlete Planning (IAP) process and that the content/priorities of these plans are reflected in national programme activities. The role reports to the Head of Performance Operations.

About You

The successful candidate must:

  • Be a credible influencer and advisor at a technical level
  • Have proven leadership skills, able to lead and manage others
  • Have extensive technical knowledge and understanding of water polo
  • Have demonstrable experience of programme design, delivery and management in a sports setting
  • Have experience of measuring and evaluating performance through qualitative and quantitative data
  • Hold minimum of a level 2 Water Polo coaching qualification.
Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and uphold Swim England safeguarding standards
Previous experience / knowledge of UK Sport/ Sport England and High Performance Programmes would also be advantageous.
